The meeting convened by District Panchayat president, on Friday, decided to make it mandatory for all the hotels in the district to have neat and clean toilets.

The review meeting of the health department convened by District Panchayat president Eldhose Kunnappilly, also decided to exempt petty teashops from the new rule.

"Action will be taken against hotels which do not have proper toilet facilities and those who are not maintaining the toilets well from October onwards. We have given them three months time and hope that it will be adequate for them to construct or repair the facilities," Eldhose Kunnappilly said.
