The high speed rail link between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, which is expected to be completed by 2020 will boost development beside the railways and stations, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said today.

The 400-kilometer rail link would enable the travel time between the two cities to be reduced to a mere 90 minutes and most will be above ground of the private-public psrtnership.

Based on initial study, five new railway stations would be built at Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Ayer Keroh (Melaka), Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Johor (Johor) before heading to Singapore.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong made the announcement after a four-eyed meeting and bilateral talks in conjunction with the Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat in Singapore on February 21.
