The keen Australian angler, Glen Kinder, this week caught a 74 kg dogtooth tuna on a big game fishing trip off Denis island.

'I caught it on 80-lb. line, and it took me a full 25 minutes to battle this giant,' Glen Kinder said.

4Hoteliers Image LibraryDenis island is known to be a heaven for big game fishing enthusiasts. The private one island-one hotel resort has but 25 villas and is manned by some 100 staff members to provide a unique level of service while maintaining a tropical island way of life.

The brochure of Denis island simply states: “An enchanted Seychelles coral isle, set like a rare jewel in a sapphire sea. The perfect tropical cocoon where to enjoy the barefoot luxury of authentic, island living. Seduced by the understated elegance of private, beachfront cottages and an exquisite cuisine designed to tempt the gourmet’s palate. Welcome to Denis Private Island.”

On water sports, Denis island proudly states in its brochures: “The diversity of experiences is not limited to land. The Denis Private Island lagoon is indeed a great fascination – triggerfish, clownfish, parrotfish, pirouetting rays, gliding turtles all in radiant livery compete in splendor in the dance of the coral reef – a morning spent snorkeling will unveil myriad life-forms and stunning backdrops.

Or, plunge into the heart of the ocean for incomparable diving. Our small, professional dive center with PADI accreditation offers diving courses for novice and advanced divers.

Sightings of turtles, white tip and reef sharks, rays, sailfish, tuna are common; dolphins and whales also frequent. Whale sharks and manta rays often sighted from September to November. Snorkeling and dive equipment are available.”

The brochure did not lie for the Australian angler, Glen Kinder, as he saw when he pulled in the 74 kg dogtooth tuna.
