Gin is currently 'trendy' and we're seeing and hearing about gin cocktails and events in many of the best London hotel bars.
The luxury Langham hotel has gone one step further, teaming up with independent distillery Sipsmith to create the Sipsmith Gin Palace. The palace opens next month on Thursday 13th September and will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 7pm until midnight.
Themed around the glamour of the mid 1800s when The Langham London first opened, the palace will offer live jazz and gin cocktails using special gin-infusions – made with Sipsmiths gin of course!
The cocktails have been designed by Sipsmith Master Distiller Jared Brown and The Langham's Head Mixologist Alex Kratena, with each one crafted to take guests on a journey through time. The first cocktail is from 1690 which is the year gin was first created, the second from 1793 when the first G&T was apparently made and another from the current day when gin is back in fashion.
The cocktails will be served alongside a menu of tasting dishes which are suited to the imaginative drinks. The Gin Palace will be located in the famous Palm Court which is widely regarded as one of the best afternoon tea venues in London and has been previously reviewed on this blog. It looks like hotel bars are about to get even more interesting!
