The inaugural awards recognise favourite dining establishments in popular cities worldwide, based on millions of traveller reviews and opinions on TripAdvisor, London restaurant named favourite in Europe.

Le Gavroche in London was not only named favourite restaurant in London, but Michel Roux Jr’s Mayfair restaurant also takes top spot in Europe, and fourth in the overall world ranking.

Cementing London’s place on the gastronomic map, the city boasts three additional restaurants in the European favourite list; with Chez Bruce, Barrafina and La Trompette in seventh, ninth and tenth places respectively.

“As the UK’s capital city, London is visited by millions of tourists every year, but in the past it has sometimes been derided for its culinary offerings, “ said Emma Shaw, TripAdvisor spokesperson, “But now millions of TripAdvisor users have spoken, proving that London’s restaurants are not only world-class, but enjoyed by those that really matter – diners.”

In total, 576 restaurants around the world were honoured, including travellers’ overall favourites, plus travellers' favourites in the U.S., Europe and popular travel destinations. Restaurants that offer dinner and table service were eligible for the awards.
