As Dubai was missing the double-digit last year just scarcely with more then 9 million tourists, 2012 shall be the magic year with 10+ million visitors. And the first months have been promising yet: Numbers of inbound travellers increased last year's around ten per cent.
The Emirate hopes to welcome also more cruising visitor's than last year, when already 54,000 travellers left the ships at Dubai cruise center. There is at least another cruiser scheduled to head for Dubai, the German "FTI Berlin" during summer season.
To fit with that remarkable growth there is another 11,000 hotel rooms to develop in 2012. Like new Rixos Palm Jumeirah that just a few days ago had opened its doors, the new properties are mostly 4 or 5 stars luxury hotels.
The rapid growth goes along with increasing awareness for ecological responsibility among the Dubai hoteliers, proove the record-setting number of applications for the Green Tourism Awards of the Emirate this year. Critical for the awards is amongst others comsumption of water and energy. |
