In a world where the average US consumer attention span is 8 seconds, one second less than that of goldfish (!), it’s no wonder travel brands tend more and more to focus on visual content to drive their message across their various digital outposts.

In fact, did you know that:

  • Visual content is shared 3 times faster than text
  • 90% of information transmitted to the brain in visual
  • People retain only 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read… and 80% of what they see!

These are just a few of the insightful stats coming from the infographic below, created by the folks at DCI. They echo stats and findings previously shared on this blog, for example when TripAdvisor found that photos impact bookings more than reviews.

If social media is a key component of your digital marketing strategy, then using tools such as memes, infographics, photos or videos is becoming a must to get your message across and share useful, sometimes humorous content as well.
