New season, new burgers: All over the city chefs are crafting their version of the American staple item with a number of gourmet flourishes.
Here are 12 to try this fall.
Park Avenue Autumn
Love the In-N-Out Burger but can't afford a plane trip to Cali? At the newly relaunched, seasonally rotating concept Park Avenue Autumn, you'll find a take on one at lunch only from Cali-bred chef Craig Koketsu. "I figured if I made one in the restaurant, then I could always have one," he tells us.
The burger is similar to the original in size and its simplicity with a few twists. Koketsu starts with a patty that's 50% chuck, 25% brisket and 25% short rib, serves it on a Parisi semolina bun and tops it with American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sautéed onions, special sauce (made with Sriracha) and cucumber slices ($20).
