You Don't Have to Have All the Answers.
By Rick Johnson

Leadership models differ in some specific approaches, the common thread that links every model together is respect for the individual and the willingness and ability to listen with an understanding that embellishes your own leadership contribution.

A mistake many leaders make is the self-imposed responsibility to have all the answers. This is just not true. It is okay to admit to not having all the answers. Good leaders are willing to show their imperfections.

Consider the following:

You must be willing to take personal risk. Be a Maverick but don’t shoot from the hip. Calculate and analyze your risks.

A Leadership models is built from the sum of your experiences, knowledge, deeds and, in fact, many of your mistakes.

Over ninety percent of the reasons companies fail can be traced to ineffective leadership. It’s not because of the economy and it is not because of the competition. It is a failure to learn.

Great leaders get exceptional efforts from their employees simply because they recognize that they don’t have to have all the answers.

True leaders inspire others to greatness. Inspiring your team starts by taking that first step to really understand who they are, what they are about and the principles they stand for.

Effective face to face communication is your platform to provide that inspiration. It is a platform to build trust.

The achievement of trust enables employees to reach deep down and give their all despite difficult circumstances. To be effective and trustworthy, a leader has to be willing to admit where they have failed and identify their imperfections as areas for their own personal development.

Admitting and identifying such issues regarding one’s self further fosters trust and demonstrates to the entire organization that you are human and that you don’t have all of the answers.
