What Six Words Sum Up Your Favorite Travel Experience?
By Melanie Nayer ~ Weekly Exclusive - Views On The Latest Trends

Exclusive Feature:

I fell in love again, forever -
Standing there, I saw the world -
Like stepping into a fashion shoot;

Just six words, but powerful statements and who would have thought we were talking about travel?

The above statements are just a couple of ways I'd sum up past few trips (Paris, Phuket and London, respectively), but one hotel company is challenging guests to put their six words to work on social media channels.

Taking a cue from Ernest Hemingway, the legendary novelist who was once challenged to write a short story in only six words, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is using this type of thinking to tap into untold stories and share them on social media outlets.  They're calling it the "Six Word Wows" and they're looking to guests to help create them.

In this new digital campaign, the hotel company will share eight original guest stories, each told in just six words, across Facebook, Instagram, Sina Weibo, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+. The purpose is to encourage guests to share their own memories and share them on social media platforms.

"The Six Word Wows are yet another way for us to celebrate the special memories that guests take away from a visit to our hotels all over the world" said Ed French, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of The Ritz-Carlton.

"We all have stories to tell, some grand, some personal, but most that we have an emotional connection to. Today, people share their memories online in the social sphere - it's the modern day campfire. What we needed was a way to enable our guests to share their stories in a faster, easier-to-digest way through social media, without losing the power of them."

French has been at the forefront of Ritz-Carlton "storytelling" since taking on his role as CSMO about a year ago. As part of his efforts, he told me advocates for Ritz-Carlton ladies and gentlemen around the world to share their favorite stories with guests in an effort to help guests create new ones.

Publishing guest stories in just six words on social media is yet another effort this luxury brand has made to connect more experiences on social media. The Six Word Wow stories are taken from The Memories From Around The World campaign, a site that houses a collection of guest's memories from their Ritz-Carlton stays.

Could you create a memory in just six words?
