Exclusive Feature: Another fashion magnate is entering the hotel business, this time, it's Chanel mogul Karl Lagerfeld;
The design and trend-setting legend isn't just adding new color schemes and window treatments to a room, though. According to reports, Lagerfeld is working with architects to create a 270-room hotel in Macau, China.
The fashion designer told WWD that this new project spawned from a desire to create a new space.
"I have more houses than I need and I don't want to do any anymore. So I can - how could I say? - get rid of my frustration by doing hotels," he said.
Well put. When you run out of houses to design, why not turn to hotels!
According to WWD, the Lagerfeld hotel will be every bit as classy as the Chanel and Fendi fashion he oversees.
The designer added: ''You know, Gabrielle Chanel always said, 'I only make dresses I would wear.' And I make only rooms where I would like to sleep. It's as simple as that.''
Details are sparse but in digging around, I learned that the Karl Lagerfeld Hotel in Macau will be 270 rooms in a 20-story tower that's part of a larger luxury gambling complex, which will also include a Versace-inspired hotel, casinos, restaurants and shopping.
