Oenophiles, listen up: a new wave of wine innovators is taking over London, pouring classy wines in unexpected places.
From car parks and crypts to the depths of Hackney, you no longer have to wear a jacket and tie to be served something special.
Ruth Spivey is radically changing the way we try and buy wine. Determined to get people drinking interesting, quality wines in a relaxed and informal manner, she set up Street Vin, a pop-up wine bar at nomadic night market Street Feast, so that the fantastic street food on offer could be matched with something equally good to drink.
Plus her lighthearted yet informative tastings, or Flight Club, have introduced people to more unusual countries and grape varieties. Her latest project, Wine Car Boot, brings local independent wine shops to London car parks for big tastings with street food and music.
