Why Go Green Now.
By Dr. Rick Johnson
Sunday, 29th May 2011

Going Green is now the Phrase of the new century, it's everywhere and it is now permeating the business realm at all levels, but why? Personally I don't buy into the crap that Al Gore published but that doesn't mean going green isn't a good idea from a business perspective.

The Howl is very pleased that we will now offer  informational tools and proven real-time vetted resources that will help readers tune out the noise to hear the information they need and take the necessary step to find money, save money and make money with innovative turn-key energy-related solutions.

We intend to bring thought-leaders, industry professionals and service providers to the forefront of dialog in order to highlight, promote and advance green building, sustainable communities, smart growth and environmental economics. We found Tim Razzaq at Local Wisdom Energy Advisors to be a valuable resource in the area of energy for business.

Products and services are branded with claims of eco-friendliness in a contradictory clamor, and consumers are left scratching their heads about what course is kindest for Mother Earth." - - Turning down the volume - Thursday, September 10, 2009 from NJTimes.com editorial featuring the work of Tim Razzaq, owner of Local Wisdom Energy Advisors.

If skyrocketing oil prices, the booming world population and the threat of global warming hadn't already grabbed people's attention, the bombing of Libya and the surrounding turmoil in the Middle East serves as a reminder that we as a Country are facing the most serious question we have ever faced.

How do we become energy independent? Arguably many experts say "Going Green" is part of the answer. The country faces pressing questions about energy use. And, the terminology and technology alone can be confusing. Things such as:

  • Clean Indoor Air Quality
  • Eco-Entrepreneurship

Tim introduced CEO Strategist to UtiliTech.  UtiliTech is a firm focused on "Energy Economics, GREEN BUSINESS AND THE BOTTOM LINE."  UtiliTech provided the following tip and will continue to provide The Howl with monthly input on Green Energy.

Green Services Tip and Featured Resource #1  :

Ensure that you have a Clean Bill of Health!

Utility and telecom bills are intentionally designed to be difficult to read and analyze according to UtiliTech a firm specializing on leading-edge policies, products, programs and projects with subject-matter experts coming from a broad array of energy- and environmental-related backgrounds.  UtiliTech states that intimate expertise is required to be proficient at gaining clarity as to whether you're being billed accurately. The following quote is just one example of their expertise.

"We began our relationship with UtiliTech in May, 2002, by contracting for their utility bill auditing and (energy) procurement services. The UtiliTech team completed the audits in a timely manner without burdening our office staff along the way.   Since implementing the procurement recommendations, we have been realizing significant and continued savings in our expenditures for electricity, telecommunications and natural gas." - Sean McGovern; Assistant Director Maintenance, Buildings and Grounds for Cooper University Hospital.

According to UtiliTech, in today's marketplace, companies, organizations and government entities can't afford to waste money in needless ways.  And, the blatant reality is that billing errors are at an all-time high.  Furthermore, it's interesting, and rather odd, that the billing errors found happen to be 90% of the time in favor of the provider.

Tim Razzi, an energy advisor at UtiliTech claims a comprehensive energy and telecom bill audit leads to maximum expense reduction or containment. He confidently and with great pride announced that since their inception, UtiliTech has successfully audited more than 10,000 utility and telecom accounts nationwide. According to Tim, last year alone, they have managed over $325m in energy spending. Because they work for their clients and not the utility companies or government, bottom line results are their only focus.

"We are performance-based in that we get paid through securing savings for our clients.  If we don't save, we don't get paid.  This demonstrates our confidence. We find billing errors/savings 98% of the time.  The severity of the errors is the unknown. "  - Emmett Lien, President, UtiliTech

In addition, since electricity rate caps are currently expiring in many states, UtiliTech can now shop for their client's electricity needs no matter their location and assist them to secure the best available price.

Once you have a clean "bill of health", you can use the refunds and savings for your billing audit to conduct a BUILDING ENERGY EFFIENCY audit.
