Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, today announced the opening of its 19th hotel in mainland China, the Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou. The hotel is the first international five-star standard hotel in the city, the capital of Fujian province.

Strategically situated in the heart of Fuzhou, overlooking Wuyi Square and the scenic areas of Wushan and Yushan, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou is within walking distance of municipal government offices and shopping areas, and a 45-minute ride to Fuzhou Changle International Airport. The hotel is conveniently located for both business and leisure visitors.

The 414-room hotel is designed by Tokyo-based KKS Architects and US-based Wilson & Associates Interior Design. All guestrooms provide an array of modern facilities and services, including 24-hour in-room-dining, satellite TV, computer data ports and broadband internet access. The four floors of Horizon Club offers personalised service and a host of exclusive privileges and amenities.

Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou provides several options for dining and entertainment. Innovative lighting is combined with traditional and artistic Chinese décor in the Summer Palace Chinese restaurant, which can accommodate 110 guests in the main dining room, with additional seating of up to 235 in its 13 private rooms. The restaurant features an eclectic mix of authentic Min (Fujian province) and Cantonese cuisine as well as a variety of seafood.

Open for all day dining, eZ Cafe presents several open kitchens where culinary artists are on "show" creating local and international cuisines. The refined decor of the Korye Jung Korean Barbecue Restaurant is enhanced with authentic rustic touches and the menu offers Korean Royal Court cuisine and Korea's best loved dishes such as Bulgogi-barbecued beef. Overlooking famed Wuyi Square and the hotel's own lush gardens, the Lobby Lounge is a place to relax and enjoy a selection of speciality teas.

The hotel has extensive meeting and banqueting facilities. Its ballroom is the largest in Fujian province, accommodating up to 1,800 guests. Seven additional function rooms of smaller sizes cater to more intimate meetings or social gatherings. All these are supported by audio/visual, lighting, translation and video/tele-conferencing facilities.

The Business Centre offers a range of secretarial services in addition to private meeting rooms. The hotel's fitness facilities include a gymnasium, aerobics room, spa, indoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, announced today it will open a new hotel in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of the Republic of Mongolia, the end of 2007.
